Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy for Kids, Adolescents and Adults on the Gold Coast

Supporting you to live your best life.

Occupational therapy helps people take part in the daily activities or “occupations” that matter most to them. This might mean supporting a child to play, learn, and develop life skills, helping an adult manage work or community roles, or assisting an older person to stay safe and independent at home. At QPAH, our occupational therapists provide practical, strengths-based support for people of all ages.

How do WE HELP

Supporting participation & independence

Our Occupational Therapy team supports children, adolescents, adults and older adults to engage meaningfully in everyday life. We work alongside individuals and families to build confidence, develop skills and promote wellbeing.

Children and Adolescents

We work with children to develop skills in play, learning, self-care, and social participation. Therapy may focus on fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, attention and regulation, or building independence in everyday routines.

Adults

Our OTs assist adults living with disability, mental health challenges, or recovering from injury or illness. We support people to engage in study, work, leisure, and community life, while developing the skills and strategies that matter most to them.

Older Adults

For older people, occupational therapy supports safety, mobility, and independence at home or in care. We also offer functional capacity assessments, assist with equipment and home modifications, and provide strategies for living well with dementia, stroke, or other neurological conditions.

OUR APPROACH

Multidisciplinary support, tailored to you

At QPAH, our occupational therapists take time to listen and understand what’s important to each person and their family. Therapy is collaborative, goal-driven, and evidence-based, with a focus on practical strategies that can be used in daily life. We often work as part of a team with speech pathologists, music therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic, interprofessional care.

Occupational therapy is available:

  • In homes or via telehealth
  • In our Southport and Varsity Lakes clinics
  • In schools, kindergartens, and early childhood centres
  • In residential aged care or community settings
